AJ's BBQ Pit opened its doors in 2009, but the history of the business dates a few years back. Inspired by his mother's hard work and experience, owner Jim Roman and his family started cooking barbecue sandwiches over an open pit of oak wood on weekends in a corner of the neighborhood of East Los Angeles. Since then, the business has grown and Jim leased a space and formalized the business. Recently, they had a community event to celebrate the first anniversary since the opening.
AJ's BBQ Pit is near the Metro Rail Gold Line that connects East Los Angeles to the extensive regional transportation network of Los Angeles. This opens the opportunity for transit riders to visit our restaurant. It is a few short blocks of the Indiana station along the Gold Line.
